SMIC to build 8 and 12" fabs in Beijing
Following its alliance with Huaxia Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (HSMC), Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) now plans to build an 8" and a 12" fab in Beijing, said company chairman Richard Chang. If funding goes smoothly, construction would begin by year-end at the earliest, he said.
