SMC announced yesterday that it is providing free upgrades to implement Intersil's throughput boosting Nitro technology for its line of Intersil PRISM-based draft-802.11g wireless networking products.Nitro is said to provide up to 50% more throughput in g-only networks and up to 300% more in mixed-mode (802.11b and g) networks by eliminating collisions and employing packet bursting technology, while maintaining backward-compatibility with 802.11b and non-Nitro 802.11g networks.
Free upgrades can be downloaded now from SMC's site for its SMC2804WBR Barricade g router, and SMC2835W and SMC2802W EZ Connect g PC and PCI cards.
