SMC intros dual-band 108Mbps router
SMC Networks today announced its first 108Mbps dual-band wireless router.
The first dual-band router from SMC, the SMC2304WBR-AG EZ-Stream Universal 2.4GHz/5GHz Wireless Cable/DSL Broadband Router is also SMC’s first product to use an all-Atheros design and to incorporate Atheros’ 108Mbps Super-G technology. The company has previously based its 802.11g products on GlobespanVirata’s PRISM chipset.
The router has two radios for simultaneous support of 802.11a, b and g clients. Features include a 4-port 10/100 Mbps switch with Automatic MDI-MDIX ports, SPI firewall, and VPN passthrough support. Parental Controls features include access control via IP Address or MAC Address Filtering, time of day, and URL / keyword website blocking.
Wireless security features include 802.1x authentication, built-in Radius Server , Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA), disabled SSID broadcast, MAC address filtering, and up to 152-bit WEP encryption.
The product began shipments this week , at an MSRP of $199.99 .
