SMC announced on Tuesday that it has started shipping the SMCWMR-AG EZ-Stream Universal Wireless Multimedia Receiver .

The product - which is on-line priced as low as $195 - is the first such device to support all three popular WLAN standards (802.11a/b/g), is based on an Atheros chipset, and supports not only still images (JPG, BMP) and streaming audio(MPEG-3), but streaming video (MPEG-1, 2) as well.

It requires Windows 98SE, ME, 2000 or XP, has a web-based admin interface and comes with an infrared remote control. It will operate in AdHoc or Infrastructure mode and supports 64 and 128 bit WEP, but not Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA).
