SMC adds 'enhanced' 802.11b Ethernet adapter
SMC today announced its SMC2470W 2.4GHz 11/22 Mbps Auto-Sensing Wireless Ethernet Adapter . Based on TI's ACX100 chipset, the product converts any device with an Ethernet connector into an 802.11b wireless client. The adapter will connect to both AdHoc and Infrastructure networks and supports TI's proprietary 22Mbps PBCC modulation method. Security is provided via 64-, 128- or 256-bit WEP encryption and "and other advanced management options".
The SMC2470W will be available in mid-March at a suggested $100 list price.
