Smallest bipolar transistor built
Harvard researchers have succeeded in building the world's smallest bipolar transistor using nanowire filaments 20 billionths of a meter, or nanometers, wide. A nanoscale diode and inverter were also built. While the scientists acknowledge that mass production of nanoscale electronics is still years away, one of the team says, "This is something that's ultimately going to work."
