Sharp and Sanyo Epson retain top spots in small- to medium-size LCD market
Japan-based suppliers maintained their dominance in the fast-growing business for small- to medium-size LCD panels in the first quarter of 2006 despite continued market-share inroads by South Korea’s Samsung Electronics, according to research firm iSuppli.
The top three suppliers of the market, Sharp, Sanyo Epson Imaging Devices and Toshiba Matsushita Display Technology (TMDisplay) are all Japan-based companies and collectively accounted for 42% of the overall small- to medium-size LCD shipments during the period.
