1st Step: Setting Up A WLAN Connection

Ad

We started by connecting the PDA as usual to an access point via WLAN. For security reasons we recommend a connection with activated encryption. WPA encryption is preferred over the easier to crack 128-bit or 64-bit WEP encryption, so we used that method in our tests.

Better safe than sorry: For security reasons, even a PDA should be operated with WPA encryption

Once the PDA is connected with the WLAN you should check whether a direct connection to the Internet is possible. To do this, simply call up Internet Explorer and go to a website. If the connection is not possible straight away, check the PDA's connection settings to find out where the problem is. In our experience, the handbook with the device is often very helpful in resolving these sorts of problems.
