Ready for take-off: Gigabyte's Rocket cooler
Gigabyte's 3D Rocket Cooler Pro (aka GH-PCU22-VG 3D Rocket Cooler Pro) is the company's successor to its earlier 3D cooler, which we've already tested. Any relationship between these two coolers isn't immediately clear, however; the most obvious change is the plastic cover at the top of the unit. This design not only helps to achieve the rocket-like look of this cooler, but also helps divert a portion of the airflow from the fan to cool the voltage regulator on the motherboard.

This clear plastic sheet isn't to protect the unit in transit - it helps boost cooling performance.
Another noticeable feature in this cooler is a piece of plastic film at the top of the cooling stack. Surprisingly, this element is not meant to protect the unit during shipping; rather, this bit of plastic is intended to improve cooling performance, by better directing airflow inside the cooler through its cooling fins.
