SIS plans DDR chipsets for Intel, AMD chips

Before the end of the year, Silicon Integrated Systems Corp. will ship samples of its first double data rate (DDR) core logic chipsets supporting Intel Corp. and Advanced Micro Devices Inc. chips. Full production will arrive in the first quarter of the year. The stand-alone SiS635 will support Intel's Pentium III, Tualatin and Celeron chips while the SiS735 will support AMD Athlons and Durons. Both will be made with 0.18-micron technology and are aimed at the high-performance desktop PC market. Full production is set for Q1 next year with a unit price of $27 in quantities of 10,000. The integrated graphic chipset, SiS315, is aimed at lower cost desktop market.
