Singapore to make e-money legal tender
Singapore government officials have announced that they intend to give electronic currency the same legal status as cash by 2008. Officials cite cost savings associated with electronic currencies that can be transferred using a PDA, a phone or any enabled devices including wristwatches. Singapore has undertaken an aggressive program of adapting to the Internet including plans to make broadband Web connections ubiquitous on the island nation.
