Silicon Valley business group urges local power plant
As analysts have observed in recent years, California has been the center of the Not In My Back Yard, or NIMBY, philosophy of power generation. Now, hit hard by power shortages this winter and facing even worse shortfalls when summer air conditioners kick on, an important Silicon Valley trade group has voted to encourage the construction of a controversial power plant located in the heart of North California's high-tech zone.
