European carmakers generally lead the U.S. and Japan for in-car electronics, applications. Audi will upgrade its dashboard installed electronics system for 2004 models to include satellite-linked Internet access. In addition to navigation controls, the system will allow you to check the latest football scores or send e-mail on the road.
Porsche Trashes Silicon

Porsche's 911 GT3 North American debut in New York did not have many in-car extras besides a seatbelt and seats - it did have carpet though. Porsche made a point of stripping away every electronic component, including semiconductor-controlled wheel control and steering, to offer the driver more control and less weight. The result: 0 mph to 100 Mph (0 K/h to 160 K/h) in less than 10 seconds.
