Siemens' Smartphone SX45

by - source: Tom's Hardware

Last week, we saw one from Samsung (the SPH-i300), and now fans of combining their pocket organizer with their cell phone have another option: Siemens' SX45. The device is based on Microsoft's Pocket PC operating system and has an integrated GSM phone, Compact Flash Slot, MultiMediaCard Slot, and 32 MB RAM memory (which was plenty of RAM for a PC a few years ago).

The SX45 also has a stereo headset and a backlit TFT color touch screen capable of displaying over 65,000 colors. Access to the Internet can be accomplished through the device's WAP Browser or the HTTP Browser supplied with Pocket PC. Along with accessing WAP and Internet sites, the SX45 can be configured to give you remote access to corporate LANs or Intranets. The PDA/phone comes with Pocket Word, Pocket Excel, Pocket Outlook, an MP3 player, Calculator, and Inbox. Active Sync via the USB port lets you synchronize the communicator with MS Outlook on your computer. The SX45 weighs 303 grams and measures 134.3 x 87 x 26.5 mm. It uses a 150 MHz MIPS R4000 core with a graphics accelerator and is said to give you up to 150 hours of standby time and two hours of talk or PDA time. The entire package includes the SX45 with stylus, protection bag, USB cable, AC adapter, stereo headset with "push to talk," and Microsoft ActiveSync CD. What, no FM radio?
