Diamond Multimedia Systems Inc. is licensing its Shotgun modem-bonding technology to Conexant Systems Inc., a maker of semiconductor equipment for communications products.
Shotgun technology allows the data streams of two modems to work together over two ordinary phone lines. With this technology, users can experience Internet connection speeds of up to 112 kbps, with the capability to release one phone line for voice calls while maintaining the Internet connection on the other.
Currently, Shotgun technology is supported in over 2,000 cities nationwide. The technology is also available in the Diamond SupraSonic II modem, as well as the entire line of SupraExpress 56K V.90 modems.
Diamond's web site is located at www.diamondmm.com . Conexant can be found online at www.conexant.com .
