Sharp Makes Friends with ATI and Transmeta
Whether they are a lightweight company or not is the topic of many a playground discussion, but ATI is definitely getting their chips into ultra-lightweight computers. The company just let us know that its Rage Mobility-M graphics chip with 4MB of integrated SDRAM will be put in Sharp's PC-MT1-H1 and H1S notebook PCs. With a thickness of just 0.7 inches, and weighing in at 2.9 lbs., the PC-MT1-H1 and H1S sound pretty darn portable. Both use the low voltage mobile P3 processor at 500 and 300 MHz, a 20GB hard drive, and a 12.1" XGA low-reflective black CTFT display. ATI's Rage Mobility-M will also be used in Sharp's PC-SX1-H1 notebook, which features Transmeta's Crusoe processor. Stateside folks will have to wait for this lightweight. Right now, it's only available in Japan.
