Shakeup in Redmond
Orlando Ayala, group VP in charge of Microsoft's worldwide sales, marketing and services, is resigning his post to take on a newly created job as head of small- and mid-size business sales for the company, according to sources.
Kevin Johnson, who currently serves as senior VP of Microsoft Americas, is the likely successor to Ayala, say sources close to the company.
Some speculated that Ayala may be stepping aside to make way for a new Microsoft president. Microsoft currently does not have a president. Bill Gates is chairman of the company and Steve Ballmer is CEO of the software juggernaut. Ballmer relies on a hand-picked handful of "Business Leadership Team" executives to fulfill the business and strategic planning for Microsoft.
