Senator wants .sex
U.S. Senator Joseph Lieberman wants to see the creation of a new top-level Internet domain such as .sex or .xxx. His purpose is to build an area where adult free speech can be protected but can be easily blocked from access by children. The Connecticut Democrat said such a move would create the equivalent of an electronic "red light district." The idea, however, faces opposition from those who resent any government involvement in the Internet as well as those who fear that the migration of adult sites to a special domain area would facilitate the control by certain governments of their citizen's access to Web content.
