Sega delays Dreamcast Network

Sega now says its Dreamcast Network will not support online gaming until late next year.

Previously, company officials reportedly had said it would be able to support online games for its popular next-generation gaming console from day one, then later moved that date back to late winter or early spring of 1999.

The latest timeline now has Sega offering Web browsing, chat and e-mail by the fourth quarter of 1999. Support for online mini-games such as board, puzzle and card games will be available by the first half of of next year, with full online gaming offered in the second half of 2000.
