Security chips in development
Concern over PC software vulnerability has led to demand for security coprocessors that will mount directly on PC motherboards. Suppliers say the design socket will be in motherboards as early as the middle of 2001 and chipmakers, including AMD, are working on security chips. Many critics, however, are skeptical about the usefulness of hardware security solutions and predict they will bring their own vulnerabilities.
