After Rare's hit Nintendo 64 release Goldeneye 007, several members left to start their own venture. In 1999, they formed the development studio Free Radical Design, and met some success with the Timesplitters series of games.

Last fall, Free Radical released Second Sight for the Game Cube, PlayStation 2 and XBox. Half a year later the title made its way into the PC gaming space. That seems like a lot of time between releases. So as Free Radical's first PC title, the question that remains is: "Was Second Sight worth the wait?"

"He's A Psycho Killer" - The Stout Security Guard

The game begins with a view of ceiling tiles and recessed fluorescent lights scrolling from the bottom to the top of the screen. As clarity comes to you through the haze, you realize that you are being wheeled down a hall on a gurney. After being buzzed though a secure set of doors, you listen to a conversation between a security guard and the person pushing the cart. You have no idea where you are, who these men are, or most importantly - who you are.

The gurney stops at the door when the men realize that you are awake. One of the men calls for a doctor to give you some "monkey juice". After he administers an injection, the room starts to spin as the screen goes blank.

After waking from your medicated slumber, you find yourself cuffed to the gurney. You wince with frustration, but as if by a wave of some magic wand, your bonds unlatch and fall off your wrists. You arise to find yourself encased in a glass medical cell. You wonder if you willed your bonds off, and find out that you can indeed manipulate objects with your mind. You fix your thoughts on the door keypad and as fast as you can say "Open Sesame," the door opens and you make a break for it.
