Second Mario Bros game makes its way to Wii Virtual Console
Redmond (WA) - About seven months after Super Mario Bros hit the Wii’s Virtual Console, its sequel has found its way to the online download platform.
Super Mario Bros 2, which was originally not even going to be a Mario title at all, was first released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1988. It has since been repackaged twice, once on the Super NES and once for the GBA.
The original arcade title Mario Bros was available on the Virtual Console in November alongside the Wii’s launch, followed by the re-release of Super Mario Bros on December 25. Super Mario Bros 2 is available today for 500 Wii Points ($5).
Also today is another sequel to a famous video game mascot, Ecco : The Tides of Time. Additionally, the TurboGrafx 16 expands its vertical-scrolling shooter collection on the Virtual Console with the release of Dragon Spirit. These two titles are available for 800 Wii Points ($8) and 600 Wii Points ($6), respectively.
