Second Hand Smoke - Graphics II: mutatis mutandis : Introduction
Introduction
Scott Vouri of Diamond Multimedia, and Andrew Wolfe of S3 talk about 3dfx, the merger of their companies, and offer some interesting bits of wisdom.
Last week, I talked to Nvidia and Creative who offered their perspective on the merger of Diamond and S3, and the retail strategy of 3dfx. This week, it's time to talk to Diamond and S3, and get an update about how they see the merger of the companies evolving, and what they might think about 3dfx.
I will have the 3dfx perspective on things next week.
I've tried to keep it curt, although unsuccessfully at times, in order to jam the interviews into my schedule this week. Therefore, it may read like a staccato set of sentences at times. In reality, the conversations were generally good natured, open, and warm.
First, I talked to Scott Vouri, General Manager, and VP of Diamond's multimedia products division. We didn't have a great deal time of to talk so, Scott stayed sharp and to the point. Subsequently, I had a chance to talk at greater length to Andrew Wolfe, CTO of S3, and the man charged with the task of explaining S3's reasoning of its acquisition of Diamond.
