Seagate shipped 24.3 million harddrives in Q4
Harddrive manufacturer Seagate today said it achieved record shipments of harddrives in the fourth calendar quarter of 2004. The company shipped a total of 24.3 million harddrives, including 1.5 Million 1" drives for handheld digital audio players. Financial results for the quarter (fiscal Q2) were revenues of $1.85 billion and net income of $144 million.
The company claims its products now address 97 percent of the total harddrive market at this time. Broken down in market segments, Seagate shipped 3.4 million drives for consumer electronics, 1.2 million units into the mobile computing space, 3.3 million enterprise drives and 16.3 million desktop units.
