SDMI denies watermarks hacked
According to Leonardo Chiariglione, chief of the Secure Digital Music Initiative (SDMI), the article published by Salon.com reporting that hackers, invited to crack the organization's technology, had succeeded in only weeks, is "completely wrong, unfounded, anonymous slander." On the other hand, further statements indicated that Chiariglione accepted the possibility that, upon further investigation of about 450 files submitted to SDMI, it may be true.
The writer for Salon has defended his article and observers at The Register have decided that his story is probably accurate.
