Schneier blasts CPRM
Cryptography guru Bruce Schneier has produced an analysis of the Content Protection for Recordable Media proposal that IBM, Intel, Matsushita and Toshiba (4C) want to install on hard drives through the ATA specification. He calls the plan "a serious threat to civil liberties" and says that, once in place, the entertainment lobby will use the law to go after coders who write software to counter the CPRM.
