The HP OfficeJet D145 includes the printing unit of the Color InkJet 1160. The quality with PhotoREt III is good. However, the user needs a lot of patience when waiting for text pages to be printed; the D145 takes almost two minutes for ten black and white pages. Integrated memory card slots make it possible to put out digital images directly. An optional duplex unit can be added on as well, so that documents can be printed on both sides with the push of a button.
The integrated scanner, however, delivers only mediocre performance. This is caused by a 49.7 percent color deviation. The huge and heavy power supply, measuring 3.9 x 1.6 x 6.2 inches (W x H x D) and weighing in at 26.8 ounces, is not really an asset. The keys are easily accessible, thanks to a slightly slanted control panel. Overall printing costs are low: 3.8 cents per black and white page and 7.7 cents per color page.
With a price tag of $499.99, the OfficeJet D145, which is neither extremely quiet nor very noisy, is the most expensive unit in this comparison. And the performance you get for that kind of money is merely satisfactory.
Only a few MFDs have integrated interfaces for storage media. The HP D145 offers three memory card slots, for CompactFlash, SmartMedia and Memory Stick.
