SanDisk Stocks Up On Flash iPod Rumors
Speculation that Apple’s next-gen iPod will be based on NAND flash has seen SanDisk’s stocks upgraded by analysts, with a 1.3% increase on trading yesterday. "Our research suggests Apple is in the process of coming to market with 16 GB and 32 GB iPod Video solutions based on NAND flash," UBS analyst Alex Gauna wrote.
"By our calculations, this eventuality, coupled with the Apple iPhone ramp and modest further inroads by SSDs, should swing the NAND supply/demand equation back towards, but not into equilibrium."
The rumors, which we reported on some weeks ago, would see the wild oversupply of NAND flash in the market soften, but not be ousted completely ; assuming that Apple ships 2 - 3 million iPhone’s and 3 - 5 million of the new iPod’s during the second half of the year.
More and more it seems that Apple will be giving us the sixth generation, NAND flash based, iPod in the near future.
