Samsung Electronics aims to increase the proportion of its NAND flash output that is based on multi-level cell (MLC) architecture from about 25% in the first quarter of this year to more than 50% by the end of the year, Samsung Semiconductor Business Unit senior vice president II Ung Kim stated during an April 14 conference call.
Kim said that 26% of the NAND flash produced by Samsung in the first quarter was based on MLC architecture and this proportion will steadily pick up to about 30% in the second quarter.
