Samsung kicks off construction of 12" Fab 12
South Korea's Digital Times reported that Samsung Electronics has begun construction of a 12" fab, Fab 12, and has recently completed selection of related 12" manufacturing equipment. Samsung plans to begin purchasing equipment in August and complete equipment installation by February. Volume production should begin in the second quarter of next year after two to three months of testing. Details as to actual investment figures and timeline will be announced soon, sources indicated.
