Samsung 4 Gbit DRAM

by - source: Tom's Hardware

Right now, it's only a prototype, but according to EETimes.com , Samsung showed off a 4 Gbit synchronous DDR DRAM prototype at the VLSI Technology Symposium in Kyoto Japan. Samsung said it could produce samples of the chip by 2004 but doesn't think anyone will really need the 4 Gbit density. The 4 Gbit prototype is 645 mm square, making it too large for production, but Samsung says the technologies used to make the device can be used to shrink 256 Mbit and 512 Mbit DDR DRAMs.
