Without any announcements or warnings in advance, the release date posted on the Sony Style Web site for its upcoming BDP-S1 Blu-ray Disc player was updated last Wednesday to read, "On or about October 25, 2006. -

In a walk towards progress, Blockbuster announced today it would be making HD DVD titles available for online rental. The program will serve as a market sample, to determine whether a healthy market exists for high-definition video rentals from Blockbuster stores. Could Blockbuster's tentativeness to make high-def videos available through its retail outlets, be interpreted as a signal to the industry?
