The "Day Zero" keynote speeches from Microsoft's Ray Ozzie and Bob Muglia on Sunday night were full of promises, including four that may become company mantras as the year progresses. But there was little specific product news besides the introduction of the Forefront brand for security solutions - among the missing items was any mention of "Windows Server 2007." -

TechEd 2006: Microsoft demonstrates first PowerShell release candidate

Microsoft today demonstrated the first release candidate of the Windows command line shell now called PowerShell. Software architect Jeffrey Snover revealed that it is a design goal for PowerShell to run as the command provider for all Windows administrator tools, including Microsoft Management Console. -

When he took the stage in Boston to give the keynote address at Microsoft TechEd 2006, Ray Ozzie may have known he was ascending to a throne whose warm-up act was Bill Gates.
