  • CES 2004 Report - Networking goes to Hollywood*
    Monday 12 January 2004 – 07:38
By now you're probably overloaded with gadget news from CES, and frankly, so am I. After wandering among all the silicon and plastic for four days I don't want to see another digital gippy or hear the expression "digital lifestyle" for at least a few months...
  • Wii Launch Report: Nintendo's Next Generation is Set in Motion*
    Tuesday 21 November 2006 – 05:32
Nintendo made its long-awaited comeback bid Saturday night with Wii, and the console's launch was deemed a success. Two million Wii's sold out (or came damn near close to selling out) and Link returned with Twilight Princess. But can a cute, affordable console with motion-based gameplay win the next-generation console race?

    Friday 4 June 2004 – 12:56
All wisdom may flow from above, but most IT products come in one way or another from Taiwan. The Computex show in Taipei is where the IT gear companies that you know and love (or loathe) come to make the deals that result in the products that you find in your local or Internet retailer.

  • Comdex Fall 2001 Report - Part 3: 802.11b*
    Tuesday 20 November 2001 – 10:00
The big news in 11b products was a slew of new stuff from Linksys. Here's the lineup (all prices are estimated street):
  • Comdex Fall 2001 Report - Part 2: 802.11a*
    Tuesday 20 November 2001 – 10:00
In contrast to the excitement that I felt while exploring the Bluetooth products, the feeling in "11a land" was very low-key. Many of the companies that I talked to about 802.11a products weren't as aggressive as I'd thought they'd be, and some were holding off on even announcing products.
  • Comdex Fall 2001 Report - Part 6: Other Stuff*
    Tuesday 20 November 2001 – 10:00
I always come across interesting products that don't really fit into the subject area of the site, but, what the heck, I liked 'em, so why not give them a plug anyway?
  • Comdex Fall 2001 Report - Part 5: HomePlug*
    Tuesday 20 November 2001 – 10:00
I was surprised to see the number of companies launch power line networking products so quickly after the HomePlug standard was approved. If you haven't been following the power line networking saga, the short story is that after a few years of attempts by different companies with various technologies, Intellon's PowerPacket technology was blessed by the HomePlug consortium as the standard for power line networking. • Comdex Fall 2001 Report - Part 1: Bluetooth*
    Tuesday 20 November 2001 – 10:00
I'm a little late with my Comdex coverage, so I'll keep things focused on what I think were the highlights of the show. I'll start with a technology that I thought was headed for the technology graveyard... Bluetooth.
  • Comdex Fall 2001 Report - Part 4: Routers*
    Tuesday 20 November 2001 – 10:00
Things were pretty quiet in SOHO routers, except for Linksys, who continues to expand their already broad line of routers. Two routers in particular were interesting surprises and should have the competition scrambling... Here's the list (all prices are estimated street):
