Comdex Fall 2003: Day 3*
Thursday 20 November 2003 – 06:00
Yes, we are still at Comdex, while most of those who bothered to show up this year have already left, and we still managed to uncover some great stuff. However, most of what we saw and did for Day 3 was set apart from the exorbitantly priced booth space at the convention center and took place at peripheral hotel sites. So whether there will be a Comdex 2004 or not will largely depend on how deep-pocketed the show's organizers are. -
Comdex Fall 2003: Day 2*
Wednesday 19 November 2003 – 06:00
It is the worst of high tech shows and it is the best of high tech shows. As we said yesterday, Comdex 2003 will go down as a bust - for Comdex organizers, that is. But many vendors were on hand with some truly innovative gear, although most of the best stuff is found off-site at nearby hotels: HP's first Athlon64-based PC, NEC's 20" LCD monitor, an advanced Internet telephony phone and more. No crowds to fight through, nice weather, great gear: what else could you ask for in a trade show, especially one that is probably just a warm up for the Consumer Electronics Show next January? -
Comdex Fall 2003: Day 1*
Tuesday 18 November 2003 – 06:00
Comdex is a bust, or so they say. While attendance is below last year's already paltry levels, many vendors were still on hand, to show off their latest wares and technologies that won't show up in resellers' hands or on retail shelves before next year. So, while Comdex may indeed be on its last leg after its organizers filed chapter 11 last year, there is still plenty to see. -

Comdex 2001 Day 1: NVIDIA, ATi, AMD, Intel and More*
Tuesday 13 November 2001 – 06:00
Far from the maddening crowd, we patrol the booths of relaxed exhibitors, unencumbered by bags, jostling brochure hounds, and the need to rush from one offsite to another. The Las Vegas Convention Center is big enough for everyone. Ah, so peaceful ... -
Comdex Las Vegas 2003: Lowered expectations, tightened focus*
Sunday 16 November 2003 – 11:14
The annual rite known as the Fall Comdex show got underway last night with Mr. Gates' usual opening address. But instead of taking over the MGM Grand's 17,000 seat arena, the keynote was held in the Aladdin Casion and Resort's significantly smaller 7,000 seat theatre. Tickets were easy to come by, too, unlike previous years where getting one was a prized as having a winning lottery ticket. -
Comdex 2001: Post Mortem*
Wednesday 21 November 2001 – 06:00
It's over. Comdex is done, but we have a final word on the subject, and we got some sneak peeks at a new Gigabyte mobo that everyone is waiting for. That and word on DFI, LSI, and Iomega. -
Comdex 2001 Day 2: ATI's New Drivers*
Wednesday 14 November 2001 – 06:00
Live from Comdex, we benchmark ATI's new drivers. Also, Leadtek's got the burning CPU religion. Networking is full of hot ticket items, and we talked to some of the leading names in the business. Powerline networking seems to have finally arrived. Gigabit Ethernet for the enterprise, and LAN parties. And, we see some must have storage products. Where's Tom by the way? -
Comdex Fall 2002 Day 2: Racing Into New Products*
Wednesday 20 November 2002 – 06:00
Who is Astro? We find about the answer this question as well as see some new and exciting products at Comdex Day 2002. In addition we were able to capture a new product from D-Link will make its way on to the market shortly. In addition we check in with Gigabyte, Maxtor, ECS, MSI, SiS, and Transmeta. -
Comdex Las Vegas 2003: A Random Walk*
Wednesday 19 November 2003 – 09:21
My wrap-up report will cover mostly non-networking related products that caught my eye as I made my way through the small, but surprisingly busy show floor. But first, I wanted to talk about two more WLAN products... A really teeny AP... -
Comdex Las Vegas 2003: Waiting for CES*
Tuesday 18 November 2003 – 07:39
The first "real" day of Comdex had more activity than I expected. The activity level feels higher than last year's - at least it did today (Monday). But some of this could be due to the show management's decision to have everyone trudge the length of the Convention Center in order to reach the Registration area. Whether things hold up Tuesday will be the real test. -
Comdex 2001 Day 3: Affordable DVD-R*
Thursday 15 November 2001 – 06:00
Is it only Day 3, already? New cases, 3D Power, affordable DVD-R, Transmeta's cool factor, and the return of US Robotics, feature. We also sent out a THG reader who happens to be a dealer, and asked for his impressions of Comdex - apparently companies in a recession don't like to sell products. Hmmmm. -
Comdex 2001 Day 0: Viva Las Vegas!*
Monday 12 November 2001 – 06:00
Comdex hits sleepy Nevada city, subdued, but not bowed. One of the first out at the gate with a big announcement is Nvidia with the NV17M. THG staff are here with a bucket full of quarters.
