Comdex Las Vegas 2003: Lowered expectations, tightened focus*
Sunday 16 November 2003 – 11:14
The annual rite known as the Fall Comdex show got underway last night with Mr. Gates' usual opening address. But instead of taking over the MGM Grand's 17,000 seat arena, the keynote was held in the Aladdin Casion and Resort's significantly smaller 7,000 seat theatre. Tickets were easy to come by, too, unlike previous years where getting one was a prized as having a winning lottery ticket. -
Interop 2005 Las Vegas - Better than Expected*
Friday 6 May 2005 – 07:54
Interop 2005 Las Vegas has rolled up its miles of cables, and packed up its servers, switches and routers for another year. While the show still has a decidedly enterprise focus, we still found plenty to interest SMB buyers with more modest networking needs and budgets. -
Comdex Las Vegas 2003: A Random Walk*
Wednesday 19 November 2003 – 09:21
My wrap-up report will cover mostly non-networking related products that caught my eye as I made my way through the small, but surprisingly busy show floor. But first, I wanted to talk about two more WLAN products... A really teeny AP... -
Comdex Las Vegas 2003: Waiting for CES*
Tuesday 18 November 2003 – 07:39
The first "real" day of Comdex had more activity than I expected. The activity level feels higher than last year's - at least it did today (Monday). But some of this could be due to the show management's decision to have everyone trudge the length of the Convention Center in order to reach the Registration area. Whether things hold up Tuesday will be the real test. -

Spring may mean the return of flowers, birds and bees to those in northern climes. But to Tim Higgins, it means an annual pilgrimage to Sin City to check out what's new in Networking. Come along for a round-up of early-bird announcements and news.review

It's the merry month of May again and in the networking world that means it's time for the pilgrimage to the Las Vegas Convention Center for the Networld+Interop show. Except this year, the show has moved from the LVCC to the Mandalay Bay Convention Center and it's no longer N+I, but just plain "Interop". Whatevah... -

CES 2007: First horseman of apocalypse in Las Vegas*
Monday 8 January 2007 – 06:49
If there was any doubt that CES has become a bloated, over the top, affair, much like the last days of Pompeii, or Comdex for that matter, you need read no further than this little ditty from our intrepid reporter, Rob Wright, in Las Vegas.

Networld+Interop 2004 Las Vegas Show Report - Opening Day*
Tuesday 11 May 2004 – 12:17
Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part, but it seems that prospects are a little brighter for this year's networking confab in the hot and windy Nevada desert. It's not that the show is a lot bigger - there are about 350 or so exhibitors and they still fit comfortably into about half the LVCC's Central Hall. -

Friday 14 May 2004 – 10:29
Though there wasn't a lot of SOHO / SMB product news to be found at the show, we managed to get some quality face time with the folks in the know at Atheros, Broadcom, Linksys, to name a few. And we even managed to unearth some product "firsts" that no one else found. -

Defcon 12's Fear and Hacking in Vegas*
Monday 2 August 2004 – 06:00
Hackers converged on the Alexis Park Hotel in Las Vegas for the 12th annual Defcon hacker convention. This may be the single venue in the world where hackers and hard-core federal marshal types convene to exchange ideas, listen to talks and discuss how exposed we really are. -
Networld+Interop - Vegas 2003 Report*
Friday 2 May 2003 – 10:22
Yes, folks, there was a Networld+Interop show this week at the Las Vegas Convention center. Smaller, perhaps humbler than in past years, but happening nonetheless. Despite the reduced size of the show (very comfortably housed in half of the LVCC's Central Hall - with lots of room to spare), there was plenty to see and write about, which I'll get to in a moment. -
