  Gigabyte is shipping its third dual-chip graphics card. The new 3D1-68GT is based on two GeForce 6800 GT chips and will come close to the performance of two GeForce 6800 Ultra cards in SLI mode, according to Gigabyte.

  Samsung has lowered quotes for its 512MB DDR2-533 modules by as much as 20 percent, hoping to spur PC OEMs to accelerate migration to the memory type from 512MB DDR2-400, according to IC distributors.

  ATI says it will demo the first graphics card with 512 MByte memory at the Ultimate LAN event, held in Dallas from February 25 to 27.
• ATI launches 512 MByte X800 XL graphics card

  ATI follows Nvidia with the launch of its first commercially available graphics card that is equipped with 512 MByte memory. The company however chose to load the additional memory onto a mainstream card and price it 50 percent less below Nvidia's 512 MByte card.
