You can expect a flood of benchmarks for Intel's quad-core 'Kentsfield' processor to hit the Internet in the next day. Intel's latest chip is officially called the Core 2 Extreme QX6700 and is an enthusiast chip aimed at high-end gamers, graphical artists and others who run multi-threaded applications. Early benchmarks from Tom's Hardware Guide show the chip easily beating previous generation Core 2 Duo processors in some benchmarks, but the new chip is only marginally better in other tests. -
Intel quad-core Kentsfield to be named Core 2 Quadro

Intel is expected by the end of this month to officially name its Kentsfield quad-core desktop processor as the "Core 2 Quadro," with the first model to be an Extreme version, the Core 2 Extreme QX6700, which will be available starting in mid-November, according to sources at leading Taiwan motherboard makers. -
Intel quad-core QX6700 reaches system builders

Intel has begun shipping its first quad-core processor "Kentsfield," which will be officially called Core 2 Extreme QX6700 to system builders. Industry sources have confirmed to TG Daily that the processor has entered a stage of system testing, which indicates that the processors is on track for a mid-November launch.
