The final iteration of the tendrils can be found on the inside, at the top of the keyboard where the chassis meets the screen hinge. The lid is actually bent at about a 130 degree angle at the last inch closest to the hinge. This bent portion of the metal offsets the screen from the hinge, and strengthens the hinge, which seems to improve viewing angles. Like the Asus U2E, the lip of the lid has no hinge—it stays shut solely via pressure from the hinge....

The port door that covers these ports is made from aluminum, using a plastic type hinge. While the door feels exceptionally stiff, the hinges, on the other hand, felt somewhat sloppy; this led us to less than satisfactory door action....

Other highlights are the hinged ports and the fold-out display for fan control. But be careful opening the door as several cables for the colorful front lighting run through its hinge....

Hinged soft-plastic plugs cover the USB/Power Charge Port and Headset Jack The jack is supposed to accept any single-plug earphone / mic, but I had to futz with the one I tried, pulling it out slightly from its fully-engaged position. The cover on the USB port feels like it will tear right off, probably because of the very thin "hinge" section of the flap....
