20th Century-Fox will finally join Warner, releasing Blu-ray titles
- News
Four films on the MGM label will be among the Blu-ray titles that follow. That changed this morning, with 20th’s announcement of eight titles for US release on 14 November, and a ninth the following week. But the studio also appears committed to following the Blu-ray timetable, which means even though BD players are available from Samsung now, it will wait for the full "ecosystem" to come into fruition. The studio will follow up the following week with a simultaneous DVD/Blu-ray release of Ice Age 2 : The Meltdown. Forthcoming releases on 28 November include The Usual Suspects and Windtalkers, followed on 5 December by the original Rocky and the martial arts film Bulletproof Monk....

Physics Drivers Outrage: Nvidia Guilty?
- News
The explanation following this controversy was received as being rather doubtful. Looking back in history, we notice that ATI’s first reaction to multi-GPU was negative, but the company followed suit with Crossfire and now the company is preaching about advantages of smaller GPUs instead of large monolithic dies. Nvidia has followed the correct rules for driver authorization and the BDP by sending us the 177.35 published driver (the same as AMD has now sent us the 8.6 published driver), both of which are currently undergoing the Authorization process in our Quality Assurance area at this moment. AMD's Thunderbird finally fully fledged
- Articles & reviews
Since Intel had started to integrate 128 kB of second level cache onto the processor die of its Celeron processor (the good old 'Mendocino'-core) late 1998, one processor after the other followed this example. Number two was 'Dixon', Intel's mobile Pentium II CPU with 256 kB L2 cache, then AMD followed with the K6-3 which also sported 256 kB of on-die L2-cache. Now AMD followed suit and launched a new Athlon processor, coming with the highly anticipated 'Thunderbird' core. The new core has received the modest name 'Thunderbird', but the actual product will follow Intel's example of the Pentium III move from Katmai and Coppermine. 'Thunderbird' will still be sold as 'Athlon Processor', but it will be easier to distinguish the 'new' one from the 'old' one, because the 'Thunderbird-Athlon' comes as 'SocketA'-version, while 'Old-Athlon' will naturally remain for 'S......

NVIDIA Strikes Back - The GeForce2 Ultra 3D Monster
- Articles & reviews
To be properly prepared for this article, I'd like to suggest that you read the following articles addressing the above said, unless you have already done that. Experienced 3D cracks and the ones of you who have followed my advice and read all the above listed articles don't really need to read any further, because they only need to count 2 and 2 together to grasp what kind of performance boost GeForce2 is getting out of that high-octane mix. If you still require the details, I suggest that you consult the following list....

NVIDIA Launches Titanium Series
- Articles & reviews
Following the old tradition, NVIDIA is now introducing a beefed up version of its spring release chip. Since fall 1997 NVIDIA is following a product release schedule that presents a new 3D-card every six months. In spring 1998 it was only the rather uninspiring RIVA128ZX, followed by the delayed RIVA TNT in November of that year. 1999 saw NVIDIA's rise to the top 3D-chip maker, in spring with RIVA TNT2 / TNT2 Ultra and finally with the first 'GPU' by the name 'GeForce256'....
