I had already thought of immersing a complete PC system within a fluid of some kind myself, primarily as a way to stymie noise output. For our coolant, we use a special fluid named "Galden ZT 150". This fluid is colourless and looks better than vegetable oil in every situation. In addition this fluid possesses phenomenal volume resistivity of 2.0 * 1010 Ohms/cm. But if you were to make the enclosure smaller, as the improved heat transfer characteristics of this fluid readily permit, you wouldn't necessarily need eight gallons, either....

The last thing we went to test was the fluids, with and without the PhysX card. This beguiled us, as the fluid would not flow out of the barrels while in software mode, even though the release 36 notes clearly state that fluids will work in software mode. Here you can see that fluid flows out of the barrels when they are shot once. For the third barrel, we deliberately shot it twice in a row to show that this will cause the fluid to explode. As you can see from the video, the barrels can be shot once but no fluid flows out of them....

It's taking advantage of the fact that phase change of a fluid to a gas is consuming a lot of energy, in this case simply thermal heat, and since gas needs a larger volume than fluid, you compress this gas back to fluid so that it can consume heat for turning into gas again....

In some scenes, the frame rate may dip as low as 10fps, then recover for a fluid 40fps in the next. At average frame rates between 30 and 50 fps, rendering will usually be fluid with performance drops in the more complex game scenes. Results between 20 and 30 fps already limit playability to a great extent, and anything below 20fps is basically unplayable, as the video output is no longer fluid and will stutter noticeably....

Within a cooling unit it is constantly changing between fluid and gas condition, doing the job of - yes, you've guessed it - the actual cooling. Different fluids can 'transport heat' at certain temperatures more or less effectively....
