Fujitsu, Toshiba plan fast FCRAMs

FCRAM uses a new memory architecture to achieve operating cycle times two to three times faster than conventional DRAMs, according to the memory makers. The two companies will jointly design 64-, 128- and 256-Mbit FCRAMs for use as special-purpose memories in personal digital assistants, printers, set-top boxes and other multimedia devices. Sample shipments are scheduled to begin by the end of 1999, with commercial production of 64Mbit FCRAMs to start in the first quarter of 2000....
