  The new generation of scanners uses all of its wiles to tempt you. Scanners have plenty of attractive selling points for 2002, and even the most modest of the bunch is happy to add a range of buttons to the front of the casing and improve the design. Scanners with the most functionality have already adopted the USB 2.0 interface, so they are able to offer spectacularly fast processing time. Others offer units for scanning slides. Yet, in spite of being very different from each other, all of these models have two important points in common: they all have 1200 dpi CCD optical detectors and cost less than $200.
