9/11 and the Internet: Limits and opportunities
- Articles & reviews
The answer to that question very much depends on your personal point of view. If you depended on the communications features of online services, then you may answer no. Compared to five years ago, many of us depend much more on their cellphone and on their Internet connection - and begin to depend on Internet phone services. Greater dependability calls for greater reliability of such services and at least today we know that Voice-over-IP is a complementing communication tool that cannot replace a traditional phone connection just yet....

Tom's Take On NVIDIA's New GeForce2 GTS

The basic texture and the three per-pixel lighting operations can all be done in one pass, since they only depend on the texture and normal map that need to be applied. You can imagine that the lighting and color of those pictures depends on their distance from each of the three vertices, their color and lighting....

Hardware Router NTK - Terminology Guide
- Articles & reviews
You'll need to do this for most any Internet applications that depend on the ability of someone on the WAN (Internet) side of your router to send a data request to a computer on your LAN. There are a few ways that manufacturers implement port mapping, and what you need will depend on what sort of applications you use. Because it depends on the router's firmware to do the job, you can have problems with some routers that have buggy implementations of this feature and still not be able to use a desired application even if you place the target computer in "DMZ". NOTE: Triggered maps are best used for quick data requests / transfers because it depends on the mapping being available when another computer triggers it....

The ctcm Motherboard Benchmark Page

It checks the speed of your L1 Cache (which only is depending on your CPU speed really), of your L2 Cache - and here it checks all the different cache conditions - and of your main memory. You are also able to check the speed of the data transfer to and from your graphics card to learn about the speed of your PCI bus, but here it is also very much depending on your graphics card itself. As you know from my Pentium Reference Table , the bus speed is not the same in all Pentium computers, it depends on the CPU speed....

Performance Preview - of Systems with Intel 440BX Chipset
- Articles & reviews
The answer is a clear 'NO' in the first place, although it will depend on the motherboard manufacturer to implement some tricks. Thus the systems are supposed to only either run at 66 or at 100 MHz front bus, depending on the CPU thats used. This feature is the original spec of Intel and it depends on the motherboard manufacturer if we will have the chance of running a 66 MHz front bus CPU at 100 MHz by setting a jumper, or if we will have to face the fact that a 333 MHz Deschutes won't even run at 350 MHz....

Discussion Of The Rendition Verite 2x00 Family Of Graphic Chips

This can be a performance advantage in case you have a monitor that supports 160 Hz refresh rate at 640x480, because the 3D performance of the V2x00 is depending on the refresh rate due to the well known 'flip at vsync' issue. This depends on the used SGRAM chips as well as on the V2x00 itself....

Vista graphics drivers to be more stable than XP drivers, ATI says
- News
Bar-Haim said that "two logos is the concept right now," but the final marketing would still depend on "further OEM input." How much of Vista’s "Aero Glass" eye candy the IGP will be able to deliver, will depend on the actions of the user, according to Bar-Haim. It really depends on what you do," he said....
