  Samsung Electronics has backed off a plan to ramp up its DRAM capacity using a 70nm process at one of its 12" fabs starting in the second or third quarter of this year, according to sources at Taiwan DRAM module makers close to Samsung.

  Toshiba and Sandisk today announced an 8 Gbit NAND flash memory chip fabricated with 70 nm process technology.
• Samsung begins mass production of 70 nm NAND Flash

  Samsung is the first semiconductor manufacturer to ramp up the 70 nm production process for its OneNAND Flash memory. The company claims that the new memory will boost production efficiency by 70% and lay the foundation for new Flash products such as hybrid hard drives.
