• TDK shows off 200 GB Blu-ray disc

  TDK has announced a prototype Blu-ray disc that can store a massive 200 GB of data. The single-sided, six layer disc can store up to 18 hours of high definition video.

  This afternoon, Fujitsu Computer Products announced it's furthering its presence in the notebook computer hard drive market, with the rollout of its MHV2200 BT 200 GB drive at a storage conference in San Diego next week. Based on first indications, Fujitsu is beefing up the capacity of its existing 2.5" form factor lineup, whose current top-of-the-line MHV2160BT was given a serious shakedown by Tom's Hardware Guide earlier this month.

  Showa Denko, a Japan-based major supplier of hard disk media announced that it will begin mass production of 2.5" hard drive platters with a capacity of 100 GB each in the third quarter of this year. Showa Denko is currently the only hard drive media manufacturer that has confirmed a capability to produce such devices.
