Gorbachev pleads for Gates' help in Russian piracy case
Apparently they do give a hoot about software piracy in Russia. Alexander Ponosov, a school principal in the Ural Mountains, faces up five years in prison for pirating Microsoft software. However, Ponosov has a big backer, none other than former Soviet Union leader Mikhail Gorbachev.
Gorbachev has asked Microsoft founder Bill Gates to show some leniency and help prosecutors drop the claims.
