Rick Rolling isn’t new anymore. Everyone does it and no one is surprised when that link to the trailer for (insert video game here) or the new (insert artist here) video turns out to be a very eighties video of Rick Astley singing “Never Gonna Give You Up”.
What we do like to see though, is when the people of the internet band together to do something worthwhile. Okay, something kind of worthwhile. Okay so not really worthwhile, just amusing.
The New York Mets had a vote on their website for what sing-a-long song they would play during the eighth inning of the teams final season at Shea Stadium.
There was a few choices for what song could be played but of course everyone was more interested in the blank space marked ’other’ where you could submit your own suggestion.
As you can imagine it didn’t take long for it to get around that the Mets needed to be Rick Roll’d.
Five million votes later and fans were booing the the song off the sound system
Apparently Mets fans are not Rick Astley fans . . . Who knew ?
