Renesas intros processor for car infotainment systems
Renesas today announced a 32-bit RISC microprocessor with a 600 MHz maximum operating frequency that will be aimed at multimedia and car infotainment applications. According to the manufacturer, the SH7785 integrates 152 kB (8 kB + 16 kB + 128 kB) on-chip memory, a DDR2 interface and reaches a floating point performance of 4.2 GFlops, which the company promises, is enough to power 3D graphics. The chip sill be shipping in May and carry a price tag of about $61.
