Tecchies on the run rely on tools like cell phones and PDAs to stay connected when they are away from the office. Unfortunately, that little handheld device simply doesn't have the horsepower or storage capacity of a desktop system. TDK Systems Europe's Palm VNC (short for virtual network connection) package may soon give you a way to access files that are on your desktop computer remotely using a GSM/PCS handset. The system allows you to not only see a representation of your desktop's screen on a handheld, but to control applications and access files on that machine through its modem.
